Mogens Koch graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and went on to become a professor in architecture from 1950 to 1968. Mogens Koch’s particular area of focus was church restoration, including the restoration of Roskilde Cathedral.

As a furniture designer, Mogens Koch was a student of one of our other great furniture designers, namely Kaare Klint, and is known for The Sectional Bookcase, The Folding Chair and The Winged Armchair Nos. 50 and 51. Like several other Danish furniture designers, Mogens Koch had a productive and lifelong association with a furniture manufacturer.

In Mogens Koch’s case it was Rud Rasmussen’s joiner’s shop, which still makes various Mogens Koch furniture by hand using a wholly unique and uncompromising approach to furniture craftsmanship.
