Poul Kjærholm began his career as a joiner in 1949 and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1952.
Minimalism and beautiful, timeless lines which almost seem to hover ensure that Poul Kjærholm furniture still looks as if it were designed only a moment ago.
For example, Poul Kjærholm designed PK 24 in 1925 and it still looks modern and futuristic in “Minority Report” from 2002. Poul Kjærholm was uncompromising in his use of materials and form and this is why his furniture continues to be ultra-modern and has not generated “a cool factor” effect.
Poul Kjærholm is responsible for some of Danish furniture design’s absolute landmarks such as PK 22 and PK 61, and he is known both at home and abroad as a supreme furniture designer. Poul Kjærholm furniture design is part of the permanent exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and many other places around the globe.
