Ask Emil Skovgaard

Ask-Emil Skovgaard is a Danish furniture designer and craftsman known for his organic and nature-inspired furniture pieces. He also creates preproduction prototypes and original sculptures. Skovgaard's workshop is located behind the old vegetable market in Copenhagen, in a neighborhood known for small industries, art studios, and workshops.

Skovgaard's furniture designs are known for their fluid lines, curves, and natural shapes. He believes in taking his time to create beautiful and functional pieces, and he is not rushed by deadlines or the need for quick production. According to Skovgaard, good things take good time, and he likes to create furniture that looks like it was made by nature itself.

Wood is Skovgaard's preferred material because of its imperfections, which he believes constantly challenges him. He likes to work with the natural forms and textures of wood, creating unique pieces that are never exactly alike.

Skovgaard has won several competitions for his furniture designs. In 1999, he shared first prize in "A Lamp Competition" held by The Danish Design School. The following year, he won first prize in "A Throne for the Queen" and "A Stool for the Cultural Minister," also held by The Danish Design School.

Skovgaard's work can be found in galleries and exhibitions across Denmark, and his furniture pieces are highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts. He continues to create beautiful and unique pieces from his workshop in Copenhagen.
