In the 1960s, Wørts became a permanent member of the FDB (Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger) design studio. During this period, he worked on several projects that became iconic examples of Danish modernism. He collaborated with other prominent designers such as Børge Mogensen and Jørgen Bækmark, and his work was characterized by its simplicity, functionality and high quality.

One of Wørt's most significant contributions to the world of furniture design was his long-term collaboration with IKEA, which began in the 1970s. He designed a range of furniture for the company that became hugely popular all over the world, and many of his pieces can still be found in homes today. His designs for IKEA were characterized by their clean lines, minimalist aesthetic and affordability, making them accessible to a wide audience.
